| 1 | It's a Wonderful Lie | SwingingParty & the Pain Makers |
Bass - El Goodo Lead - Chipper Drums - Mark Miller Recorded at the luxurious 40 Watt Moon Studios in beautiful midtown Memphis. "Arguably the best song PW has ever recorded. What I wanted to do was a totally loud Chuck Berry rocked out guitar and a screaming vocal… Then I realized I probably couldn't do that… so what you get is basically, a "sketch" of the song idea. If I had any pride at all I would finish it properly. Paul could do this version serious justice...Next tour maybe?" |

| 2 | Let The Bad Times Roll | Flat |
Brian McLean - guitars, keys, bass, vocals Paul Brodie - drums Recorded @ First Take/Best Take Studio, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, August 6, 2005 "Our humble contribution. Recorded quickly in a cluttered basement it seemed appropriate to pick a tune from Stereo. Always liked the 'father' line." web site: www.soundclick.com/flat email: contactflat@hotmail.com |

| 3 | Attitude | Nudge |
Stephen Cook - all instruments Colin & Jaymz Cook - count in and background noises Poorly self recorded & mixed at home in a cluttered room "I did Attitude cause it was the only song I knew how to play that wasn't already taken and the lyrics itself were just asking for the song to be punked up. As for the falsetto part that you were expecting but not hearing, that was left out on purpose due to the fact that if I were to do it, not just dogs would be howling in pain." web site: www.geocities.com/stonecrazymusic |
| 4 | 2 Days Til Tomorrow | Twenty Questions |
Chris Ramey did some of the parts and the mixing in St. Paul. John Irwin did the rest of the parts in Minneapolis and Galveston.

| 5 | Torture | turtle |
Todd Breadon: All instruments and vocals, recorded in a Michigan basement on an iMac with GarageBand Software. "I chose "Torture" because that song has been screaming "give me a beat" since the first time I heard it. Of course Paul's beatless version is vastly superior in every way and that's why I'm paying tribute to him, he's the man!" web site: www.breadonfamily.com/Links2.html |

| 6 | We May Be The Ones | Brendan Casey |
Guitar/Vox - Brendan Casey (Syracuse, NY) Recorded @ Special Studios, Plattsburgh, NY February 2005 "My brother gave you a baseball bat, I'm giving you this cover." web site: www.brendancasey.net |

| 8 | What About Mine? | Glenn Case |
Glenn Case - All instruments and vocals Recorded and prepared at home in Spokane, WA in 2005 "I had already recorded a "Stereo" cover album, and I wanted to do something for this project that I hadn't already recorded. I was listening to this song repeatedly and singing it loudly on my trips to work around the time I found out about the tribute disc. Brilliant lyrics, but that's how I would describe most Westerberg material." |

| 12 | Let's Not Belong Together | Dock Boy |
Analog Tracks: Dock Boy wav Conversion: Jamal C. "First - large thanks to those who put BYOL together - "Let's Not Belong" chosen because MONO was "THE" album , when it came out, to a certain circle in Minnesota's south Iron Range - blaring from trucks in line at valvoline and like that - and because happily many other personal Mats/PW favorites were already being done. "Dock Boy" alias is from a former job. Thanks again and again Paul for all the great songs!" |

"Recorded in my basement in Connecticut on a hot summer night - two
beers, one take. The most honest song I have ever known."
| 16 | Skyway | Pro Mitra |
All instruments and vocals by Pro Mitra. Recorded/mixed in my house in the "O.P. - Sacramento". "'Skyway' is a perennial PW/Mats song that nobody can get tired of listening to. When I listen to the CD version, it sounds under-produced and you can imagine there should be a string arrangement to complete the song. I couldn't write one, so I just slowed it down and added harmony and approached the song at a different angle. Thanks Paul for the major influence." web site: www.pro-mitra.com |
| 17 | Wild and Lethal | Wolfdog |
All sounds purposeful, accidental, and otherwise - John Wolf. Recorded & Mixed at Casa Del Lobo, St. Paul MN Apr-May 2005. "'Won't Do You No Good' left out by special request." |
| 18 | Born For Me | UnKevin & Madison (age 7) |
Recorded in 2 takes...Straight into the PC via a $2 piece of crap microphone.
"kicked up a notch" by Nudge. "My daughter heard me noodling around with this, trying to figure out the chords… as she listened with me, she started singing and I thought hmmmm...maybe I should record this. Glad I did. Trivia: Played on the same guitar that Paul played this song on in Louisville… and signed in Memphis. Wish it sounded as good." |
| 19 | Here Comes A Regular | Jack Ruby's Alibi |
Mike Sweeney: vocals, electric guitar Christopher Van Epps: acoustic guitar, backing vocals Recorded live to 4-track during late April 2005 in some godawful suburb south of Raleigh, NC. Mixed and mastered by Mr. Van Epps. "'Here Comes A Regular' was originally released 20 years ago on one of the greatest records of all time. Sure.. we demolished the original, but we think Paul might understand." web site: www.jackrubysalibi.com |

| 20 | Can't Hardly Wait | The Cinders |
Jeff Crane Guitar (Boston) Laurent Ciron Guitar/Vocals (Paris) Christian Rosset (Rouen) Joe Sheehan (Boston) Recorded @ Mondo Bizarro - Rennes, France, Febuary 2005 Kitchen-mixed @ Happy House Studio in St-Ouen, France "The French audience is not really familiar with the Replacements and this masterpiece. It's a "touch of class" to include that song in our set list and always a tremendous pleasure to perform it on stage. Our version is cloned from the original: who are we to dare change anything to something already perfect? Our first LP is directly haunted by the sound and the wit of The Mats. it's just another kind of transatlantic homage. We hope you'll dig it too..." web site: www.thecinders.com |
| 21 | Bastards of Young | Marc Metz |
"It's just me and my guitar. Recorded in my bathroom, (I like the accoustics in there ) on a Boss digital 10 track machine."
