Wild Stab Lyrics

Back

All of these years believing and such
Something I thought I couldn’t touch
Believing in something I couldn’t see ???
All this time wasted in pain
When I knew in my heart again
There would come a time that I’d be back
All these years of take and go
Close my mind in my hole?
But I’m back if you’ll have me
I’m back if you’ll have me now
I’m back if you’ll have me
I’m back if you’ll have me now
All of these years believing and such
Something didn’t exist if I couldn’t touch
I would refrain because I couldn’t feel
All these years of take and go
Couldn’t feel, there is no hope
But I’m back if you’ll have me
I’m back if you’ll have me
I’m back if you’ll have me
And you’ll have me I swear
Never thought I could say the words:
‘I wish I was just what I am’
I don’t want a word??? to sing along
You think it’s my job
I’m the singer not the song
And I’m back if you’ll have me
I’m back if you’ll have me
I’m back if you’ll have me
If you’ll have me just how I am
I’m back if you’ll have me
I’m back if you’ll have me
I’m back if you’ll have me
And you’ll have me just how I am
Just how I am

Wear Me Out Loud

Honey, you wear me out
Like a chintzy bracelet you bought at an airport
Honey, you wear me out
Baby I’m a-wasted and it’s all his fault
Wear me out loud
Wear me out loud
Honey, you clean me out
Empty fridgerator and I’m seeing to it later
Honey, you clean my clock
And if I need a taste, you start me rocking
Baby I’m a-wasted and it’s his doing
Together there’s a spark
You and I make
A real dead??? wish
I wish ???
Honey, you wear me out
Like a chintzy bracelet you bought at an airport
Honey, you wear me out
Baby I’m a-wasted and it’s all his fault
Loud
Honey you wear me out
Loud

Born for Me

When the loneliest eyes
And the emptiest arms
Finally decided to meet
With a head in a lap
And a tongue tied in knots
Then the loneliest eyes
Try and speak
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
Stay here with you
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could die here with you
For a couple of nights
You could say you’re my wife
You could stay or run away if you please
The heaviest hands
And the emptiest head
You’ll be safe in the light
When we kiss
When we breathe
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could die here with you
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
Stay here with you

I can’t bear it
I can’t share it
With anybody in my little world
I can’t hide it
I’ll never find it
With another girl

You’ll be safe in the light
When we kiss
When we breathe
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could stay here with you
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could die here with you
You were born for me
Beautiful and blue
I could die here with you
I could die here
Let me die here
Let me die here

3…and
When our lips participate
Soon then my eyes precipitate
I hate to stop but I really have to go
A-B-C-D-E-F-G
When you call me ‘baby’
H-I-J-K-L-M-N
Oh no
When you call me ‘baby’
I need to find an alley
Your voice always makes me have to pee
Light up like a Christmas tree
I need to find an alley
Your voice always makes me have to pee
Your face makes my eyes run
Your face makes my eyes run
Gimme me that guitar!
Fi-fi-fi-five, four, three
When you call me ‘baby’
Your voice always makes me have to pee
A-B-C-D-E-F-G
H-I-J-K-L-M-N
Oh no
Oh oh you make me have to go
Light up like a Christmas tree
I need to find an alley
Your voice always makes me
Your voice always makes me
Your voice-
I really got to go now
Your voice makes me have to pee

Sorry for Tomorrow Night

Baby you don’t know what you do to me
Oh how I hate to fight
Thank you for this golden opportunity
In advance
To say I’m sorry for tomorrow night
My name is Disaster when it comes to this
You’re making me way uptight
In the future you’ll remember I’m a pacifist (pessifist?)
Gimme a chance in advance
I’ll say I’m sorry for tomorrow night
I hope you’ll understand
Sorry for tomorrow night
Like to say it in advance
And the next week, next month after that
I might regret it for the rest of my life
I like to say it in advance
Sorry for tomorrow night
Baby you’re in such a good mood now
It’s a good time to apologize
I hate to take away from a real good thing
But gimme a chance in advance
I’ll go I’m sorry for tomorrow night
I hope you’ll understand
I’m sorry for tomorrow night
Like to say it in advance
And the next week and month and year after that
I might regret it for the rest of my life
But just in case I don’t show up
I say I’m sorry for tomorrow night

Dance to the Fight

College, dance to the fight
College, dance to the fight
Got a problem, running out of cups
I don’t care about the test results
College, dance to the fight
College, dance to the fight
Drunken, flunking out
I’m on my hands and knees
On a Friday night
Mom and Dad, we’re running out of cups
Seven kegs is not enough
College, dance to the fight
C-C-C-College
Drunken, flunking out
College, dance to the fight
Dance to the fight
Frat girls, dance to the fight
Collagen, dance to the fight
Dance to the fight

Kissing Break

Give our lips something to do
Give our mouths some words to say
Fill our hands, there’s work to do
Just in case they want to stray
We’re all business, you and I
Professional as we can be
Hurry up it’s nearly 5
Well all right it’s only 3
Hey let’s take a kissing break
Listen to our body clock
We’ve been at this thing all day
Baby what’s say
Let’s take a kissing break
Hey let’s take a kissing break
I don’t care if they talk
We’ve been at this thing all day
Baby what’s say
Let’s take a kissing break
Not because we’ve weakened
Or paused for the weekend
It ain’t just money that we’re missing
Or trying to make
Hey let’s take a kissing break
Listen to our body clocks
We’ve been at this thing all day
Baby what’s say take a kissing break
Hey let’s take a kissing break
I don’t care if people talk
We’ve been at this thing all day
What’s say (OK)
Take a kissing break

Just a Phase

It’s just a phase
She’s going through
It’s not that old, it’s something new
It’s not your fault, she ain’t blaming you
And it’s just a phase
Is she 16 or 31
A little bit mean
Wearing her fun??
Whatever you do
Don’t ask her age
It’s just a phase
If she bursts into tears
And thinks that no one cares
Impatient, she’s changing
She’s running hot, she’s running cold
The weather/Whatever she’s got, inevitable
She’s full of life
She’s full of rage
It’s just a phase
If she bursts into tears
And thinks that no one cares
Impatient, she’s changing
No longer a curse
She’s still in the hole
Whatever it’s worth
She’s such a dear
Let’s make it clear
It’s one of them days
It’s just a phase

Outta My System

Gotta get it outta my system
When I’m loaded to the brim
Gotta get it outta my system
Or I tip my hand
Gotta get it outta my system
For I poison my home
Gotta get it outta my system
Or I rock n roll
Keep it inside
Till I might explode
Feel my skin
Like a suit of clothes
I feel warm
Just to hide my soul
Keep it inside
Keep it inside
Gotta get it outta my system
Before I make a call
Gotta get it outta my system
With plenty all
Gotta get it outta my system
I’m loaded to the brim
Gotta get it outta my system
Or I tip my hand
Keep it inside
Till I might explode
Feel my skin
Like a suit of clothes
I feel warm
Just to hide my soul
Keep it inside
Keep it inside
Gotta get it outta my system
Oh enough’s enough
Give away too much
Been so long
Give away long
Enough’s enough
Use it way too much, way too long
You ain’t wear it all, no
Gotta get it outta my system
Before it takes a hold
Gotta get it outta my system
While I rock and roll
Gotta get it outta my system
Promised ?? in hands?
Give a little shout to my sister
Tell her where I’ve been
Keep it inside
Till I might explode
Feel my skin
Like a suit of clothes
I feel warm
Just to hide my soul
Keep it inside

Need the Guys

Took a long time, about 13 seconds
Til I knew you were mine
Took a long time, about 13 seconds
Til I knew you’d always be mine
And I need the guys to know
To see in the night
I need the guys to know it
Me and you together since the beginning of time
Took a long time about 13,000 days
Since you came back around
Took a long time about 13,000 days
Til you came to my heart/arms?
I need the guys to know it
I need the world tonight
I need the guys to know
You and me together since the beginning
You and me together since the beginning
You and me together til the beginning of time
That girl has gotta know now
That girl has gotta know
That girl has gotta go
That girl has gotta go
That girl has gotta go
And I need the guys to know it
I need the guys tonight
Need the guys to know it
You and me together since the beginning of time
You and me together since the beginning of time
You and me together since the beginning of time
I need that guy to know it
The one that I never liked
I need that guy to know it
If he shows up
We’re stepping outside

Love Out Loud

King of America

I’ve cleaned your floors
Scrubbed your toilets
Man, I’ve swept under your feet
Worked in your stores
Every boy gets one chance
You’re laughing at me
Now it’s my turn to bleed
Shout it out
King of America
I wanna be king of America
I have waited in your long lines
I have sweat ‘neat your sun
I’ve kicked ’round in your factories
I did it all without a gun
Now it’s my time to run
Shout it out
King of America
I wanna be king of America
Gimme some
Gimme something I can be
I have worn your cheap little outfits
I have taken your sickening drugs
You tried to sweep me under your carpet
Then decided I had enough
Shout it out
King of America
Every boy dreams to be
King of America

Little People

Whole Lotta Nothin’

whole lotta nothing lyrics

(“PW, JH + and Maxine Nightingale“)

Done Done Done

Hands Together

I attended Ty Cobb’s funeral
And managed to find a seat
Then I went out dancing with my Miss Garbo
Tried my best to not step on her feet
And the staircase is a mountain
And the window is a cliff
In the morning the weather found them
Both my hands were cold and stiff
Till I put ’em together
I know that’s right
Put my hands together
Don’t know how, I’ve got the nearest pair
And I hold on tight
I had breakfast with a cigarette
Must have eaten before
He kept squirming from my fingers
Insisted on rolling on the floor
Dinner with a cup of coffee
That likes to be called a mug
Today he was more comfortable on the rug
Put your hands together
I know it’s right
Put your hands together
Don’t know how then grab the nearest one
And hold on tight

The TV is furious at me
For not watching it at all today
The newspaper gets older every minute
We have so much in common he’s gonna stay
The staircase is a window
Here we go
And the evening crept out backwards
Makes his usual excuse
As the night loves to fall apart
When it’s only you
Give my regards to midnight
Tell him he ain’t changed a bit
Long, tall, dark and handsome
Still lonely as shit
And the music on my radio
It’s not welcome in my room
And the pillows are exhausted
To hold my head again so soon
The dreams I had before
Are now too bored to even show up
And the blankets are embarrassed
It’s only me that they cover up
Put your hands together
It’s what I need tonight
Put your hands together
Don’t know how, grab the nearest one
And hold on with all your might
Hands together
Put your hands together
Don’t know how, grab the nearest one
And hold on tight

  1. Writing lyrics like this after 35 years? Are you kidding?

Sure, Hands Together doesn’t carry the same intellectual gravitas of Mr. Whirly or Gary’s Got a Boner, but it’s good to keep trying, Paul!

  2. Clueless to the release of this incredible album! So happy to hear Paul and JH performing new materiAl together. It is like Otis came barreling in the driveway and the band stumbled out and asked if they could crash here for a couple of nights. “Hands Together” is, hands down, the best f@cking song of 2016. The lyrics are so moving with Hemingwayesque imagery. Every Mats, Lemonheads, and alternative fan should have this In their collection. Thank you so much!

  3. Whole Lotta Nothin’ (a few words missing/unclear, but I think I’ve got most of this – love this tune! Had no idea what it was about until I went through this process to transcribe the lyrics. Still not quite sure what it’s about, but it seems to be PW’s jaundiced view of social media)

    Whole lotta nothin’
    A whole lotta nothin’
    Whole lotta nothin’ like me

    Well, I’m goin’ online (offline?)
    and there goes another hour
    I’m feelin’ ugly, nervous,
    and a highway wreck

    Empty inside
    Dirty as the basement shower
    It’s like cocaine for breakfast
    or be disconnect[ed?]

    I’m an icon
    Everybody hit delete
    How many likes on
A whole lotta nothin’ like me
A whole lotta nothin’ like me
    No no no

    I’m feelin’ empty inside
    Fillin’ somebody’s pockets
    [????] the cat
    is killin’ me

    And they’re countin’ on that
I got a rocket in my pocket
    And I ain’t free, baby
    I’m just cheap

    I’m an icon
    Everybody hit delete
    How many likes on
A whole lotta nothin’ like me

    I’m an icon
    Everybody hit delete
    How many likes on
A whole lotta nothin’ like me
A whole lotta nothin’ I see

    Whole lotta nothin’
    A whole lotta nothin’
    Whole lotta nothin’ like me

    Whole lotta nothin’
    Whole lotta nothin’
    Whole lotta nothin’ I see

    Ahhhhhhh

    I’m an icon
    Everybody hit delete
    How many likes on
A whole lotta nothin’ like me

    I’m an icon
    Everybody hit delete
    How many likes on
A whole lotta nothin’ like me

    I’m an icon
    Everybody hit delete
    I’m an icon
    Everybody hit delete
    I’m an icon
    Everybody hit delete
    I’m an icon

  4. Maybe the third line of “I’m Back” is: “Believe in something I couldn’t see sober”???

Also, sounds as if the third line of “Born for Me” has a small but telling change from the original version: “Finally decided to meet.” The verb changed to the past tense, the two have already met.

  5. Outta My System

Gotta get it Outta my system
When I’m loaded to the brim
Gotta get it Outta my system
    Or I tip my hand
Gotta get it Outta my system
    for I poison my home
Gotta get it Outta my system
    Or I rock n roll

    Keep it inside
    Till I might explode
    Feel my skin
    Like a suit of clothes
    I feel warm
    Just to hide my soul
    Keep it inside (twice)

Gotta get it Outta my system
    Before I make a call
Gotta get it Outta my system
    with plenty all
Gotta get it Outta my system
    I’m loaded to the brim
Gotta get it Outta my system
    Or I tip my hand

    Keep it inside
    Till I might explode
    Feel my skin
    Like a suit of clothes
    I feel warm
    Just to hide my soul
    Keep it inside (twice)

Gotta get it outta my system

    oh enough’s enough
    Give away to much
    Been so long
    give away long
    Enough’s enough
    Use it way too much
You ain’t wear it all, no

Gotta get it outta my system
    Before it takes a hold
Gotta get it outta my system
    While I rock em home
Gotta get it outta my system
    ______dish in hands?
Give a little shout to my sister
    Tell her where I’ve been
    Keep it inside
    Till I might explode
    Feel my skin
    Like a suit of clothes
    I feel warm
    Just to hide my soul
    Keep it inside
    Keep it inside (6 times)

  6. Just a Phase (90% correct, but needs a 2nd set of ears)

    It’s Just a Phase
    She’s going thru
    It’s Nothing old
    It’s something new

    It’s not your fault
    She ain’t blaming you
    Its JAP

    She’s just 16
    All fired? on
    A little bit me
    Wearing her fun
    Whatever you do
    Don’t ask her age
    It’s just a phase

If she put her sin to tears
    I think she’ll __ on cares?
    Patient
    She’s Changing

    She’s running hot,
    she’s running cold
    Whatever she got
